The purpose of the Communication Committee is to build associations, collaborative relationships and partnerships with businesses, other community civic associations, nonprofit organizations, city agencies, and government agencies that support NSCA goals. The committee is responsible for the preparation of the Block Buzz and the NSCA Website.

The purpose of the Community Relation Committee is to support and promote the neighborhood and neighborhood businesses through written correspondence, meetings and other appropriate means in order to promote a healthy, economically strong, and culturally rich community. Activities include:

a. the welcoming of new neighbors and business;
b. identifying neighborhood and business concerns;
c. reporting these concerns to NSCA membership and appropriate NSCA committees, and responding to neighborhood concerns as appropriate;
d. community promotion and advocacy, and; building partnerships and collaborative relationships with property owners, residents, and business.

The purpose of the Friends of Guerin Committee is to help maintain and improve the quality of the playground and other facilities at the Guerin Recreation Center, and to develop, plan, organize and contribute to community activities and programs at the Guerin Recreation Center.

The purpose of the Fundraising Committee is to support and coordinate the raising of money for NSCA and the Guerin Recreation Center through grants and fundraising activities.

The purpose of the Green Group is to encourage the planting and care of trees, flowers and gardens on neighborhood streets, lots, the Guerin Recreational Center, and other public and private areas. Committee will promote and heighten community awareness of environmental issues, promote neighborhood beautification through greening and gardening, and provide educational and promotional activities on urban gardening and horticulture.

The purpose of the Safety Group is to promote through education and volunteerism a safe, healthy and crime-free neighborhood. Crime prevention and public safety education in cooperation with local police, and public health, medical and safety agencies. Participation in crime watch, and other crime-prevention programs.

Tip: The Safety Committee suggests that you keep a light on out front of your home from dusk till dawn. Keep the neighborhood bright!

The purpose of the Trash, Graffiti and Recycling Group is to keep our neighborhood and streets clean and litter free. Committee will promote full recycling, regular trash pick-up, and regular cleaning of streets by and with volunteers, community groups, governmental initiatives, and other civic associations. Neighborhood-wide education, and promotion of trash pick-up, recycling, litter prevention, litter disposal, and street and alley cleaning.
